Ed Stillwagen, known as Captain Clam, will be speaking about harvesting mollusks on Long Island Sound. He is one of the more interesting characters plying the waters of Long Island Sound. A former marine engineer, he quit the white-collar world in 1971 in order to work the sea. Clams, specifically. Ed’s invention, his most unique clam harvesting vessel, safely harvests the mollusks, and also cleans the sea floor of tons of garbage. He is currently  looking to harvest a native species of sea kelp in Long Island Sound.
